In the second of the “servant
songs of Isaiah,” the Servant is seen as a prophet addressing His call and
commission for the restoration of Israel and the redemption of all mankind.
“This is what the Lord says— the Redeemer and Holy One of Israel—
to him who was despised and abhorred by the nation, to the servant of rulers: “Kings will see you and stand up, princes will see and bow down,
because of the Lord, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you.” Isaiah 49:7

“But we had hoped, he was the one who was
going to redeem Israel.” Luke 24:21
And a messenger comforted them -
The time for mourning has passed. You have forgotten much
that He taught you, and it has been forgiven you, as all is forgiven to those
who love. Now you must be strong and resume what has been ordained for you for His mission and for your mission. Multitudes have sorrowed before you, and multitudes will sorrow
after you, but sorrow is in vain.
To the messenger they cried out, our hearts are only
human!
The messenger spoke again –
God’s heart also grieved as none other could. The
humanity of His Heart surpasses yours. He saw His Son offer up Himself for
mankind, He saw His flesh bruised and nailed and torn, He saw His humiliation
and fear and shrinking in his most human heart, He saw the malice which
surrounded him, and watched him die.
They cried out “forgive us Lord, strengthen us so we may
endure and not forget again. Spread Your
Wings beneath us, carry us, for we are only human, and You have fashioned us to
suffer.
“As he suffered, Job said,
“I know that my Redeemer lives, and He shall stand at last on the earth.”
And the messenger was gone –
