Imagine something with me. Our passage today gives us a look at Jesus, The Ancient of Days.
“the Ancient of Days took his seat.
His clothing was as white as snow;
the hair of his head was white like wool.
His throne was flaming with fire,
and its wheels were all ablaze.
A river of fire was flowing,
coming out from before him.
Thousands upon thousands attended him;
ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him.”
Can you see it? Pretty powerful! His throne was flaming and the wheels ablaze. That scene would make anyone shake in their boots and bow before His majesty.
Now let’s look at Luke 2, “So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.
Amazing, the Ancient of Days humble himself, gave up his fiery throne trading it in for a manger. He took off his snow white clothing and was wrapped in common cloths. His head of white hair became the downy soft hair of a baby. The thousands that attended him became some shepherds and their sheep. The most amazing thing of all is that he did it for you and me.
