Image of the Invisible God

Who is Jesus? Why do we celebrate His birth?

Paul wrote the Colossian Christians to help them understand who Jesus is: Jesus Christ is supreme over creation. Through Him and for Him, “all things have been created.” (v 16) Christ is over the church, “…He is the head of the body, the church…” (v 18). He is the “beginning and the firstborn” over death. (v 18)

Paul simply says that there is one God. He created everything and He rules over all. Further, “[Jesus] is the image of the invisible God.” (v 15) Jesus Christ is absolutely unique. There is no one like Him. He is infinitely beyond everyone and everything else. He is God.

God came into the world as a baby in the form of Jesus, in human flesh. God was pleased to be in Him. (v 19) God had a plan to reconcile the world with Himself. (v 20)

During this season of Advent, remember how we became reconciled to our Creator. Our hearts long to be in a right relationship with God. Sin would overwhelm us if God had not sent His One and Only Son into this world. Celebrate. Let's take time to prepare our hearts and our families' to honor and praise the birth of the One who made all things right with God!

Hallelujah, Christ is born! He rules over all the earth with His love. Open your heart, your whole life to Him. With a joyful heart, give thanks to God! It is the season to celebrate!
