We've Done This Before - Matthew 15:21-39

Jesus called his disciples to him and said, “I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me three days and have nothing to eat. I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way.” (Matthew 15:32)

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you asked yourself, "Could it get any worse?"  Then you think back and you recall having asked this very question before; maybe more than once.

Our scripture today finds the disciples in a similar predicament.  There are crowds of people following Jesus--they have been listening to His teaching for three days now.  Their food supply has long since been eaten.  Jesus wants to provide a meal before dismissing them.  The disciples look at each other and ask, "How are we supposed to do that?"  They have already forgotten the other day, when the same thing happened in a different town.

Is this story familiar to you?  Have you, like me, forgotten how God got you out of a tight spot before?  Have you, once again, lost sight of the fact that God is God; He can do anything, He cares about you and your situation and He is there for you?

What tight spot are you in right now?  What worry or fear is squeezing the breath from your body today?  Remember God's promise in the past.  When facing a difficult day or season, don't forget all He has done for you before, and trust Him to take care of you again.
