Following Orders Matthew 24:29-51

My four year old is trying to form his independence and many times it reveals itself through disobedience. I’ll tell him to do something and he will either outright ignore me or try to rationalize why doing something else is better. Either way it is frustrating because it shows a lack of respect for my authority.

I like that my little boy is independent and not afraid to do things his own way, but the challenge is helping him see that respect for authority will actually help him in life.

Our scripture passage today warns us against disobedience toward God.

“Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns…But suppose that servant is wicked…The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

This is not an easy passage to read, but God is straightforward with his expectations. He desires us to be faithful to him until he comes again. Pray that God helps you serve him in a way that will have him say, “Well done good and faithful servant.”
