Have you ever heard the phrase, “Love is a verb”? Today’s scripture passage is prime example of the truth in that statement. It uses words like restore, carry, share, sow, reap, and do good. These words are all referring to how we as believers should treat others, especially other believers.
To most people these words sound good, but when we take them seriously and put them into action we see that it is not easy for to do. It’s not that we don’t care for people and want them to succeed it’s just that we don’t typically want to invest the time and energy that it will take.
I love the encouragement that Paul leaves us with at the end of this passage. “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Imagine it; we will reap a harvest from doing good. The lives we invest in will be changed, but not until the proper time.
So if it feels like hard work, you are probably doing something right. Keep up the good work. Love is not a feeling it is action.
