Many of you know that my family and I have been moving across country. Well we have finally made it to our destination. As we unpack the boxes in our new home there are a lot of things that did not make the trip with us, so our house feels a little empty. Many pieces of our furniture have been falling apart on us so we decided to replace them.
It’s interesting how everything has a lifespan. Many of us now that we are older even think in terms of the life of something. When buying a piece of furniture we expect it to last a certain period of time so we can get our money’s worth, but we don’t expect it to last forever.
We even think this way in terms of emotions. When speaking to a loved one we know how far we can push before their patience runs out. Our scripture passage today starts with a bold proclamation, Love NEVER fails. Let’s look at that word never.
Never, not ever, at no time will the love of God fail us. Everything else in this world has an expiration date, but not love. Our passage even explains how our knowledge of God will one day be complete, it is not saying that his love will be complete; rather our comprehension of that love will expand fully.
As you look around today, take notice of everything that will someday expire, and praise God for his everlasting love.
