Philippians 2:12-30

The Message Bible takes the poetry out of the reading sometimes, but relays the intent in clear language which enables me to grasp its meaning and apply it to my life.  Paul is conveying to the people of Philippi his wishes that they keep the faith.  He is encouraging them to keep doing what they were doing since the beginning of their faith journey.  He is affirming that they know what must be done and even though he isn't there with them they should 'keep on keeping' on.

"What I'm getting at, friends, is that you should simply keep on doing what you've done from the beginning. When I was living among you, you lived in responsive obedience. Now that I'm separated from you, keep it up. Better yet, redouble your efforts. Be energetic in your life of salvation, reverent and sensitive before God." ( Philippians 2:12 MSG)

This seems to be a reminder also that what we do while at church, especially on Sunday, should carry on throughout the week.  We can Praise God and pray where ever we are.  We can be kind and loving with our friends and neighbors, and we can share the Good News as we go along.  This is our duty and a privilege and we should do it with joy.

As I was driving from Eagle River, WI to Hilliard, OH I saw a very large billboard with a picture of Jesus on it and the words, "Be Imitators of Christ."  How timely to see this sign as we are studying what this means and learning how to do this.  Hanging a big sign for all to see is one way.  This month we will explore others.
