The Story - Chapter 15 - Hosea 4, 5

If you find the book of Hosea difficult to understand but you want to grasp its meaning, pick up a copy of Francine River's book, Redeeming Love.  I read this beautiful love story many years ago and still remember its message.  In fact having studied Hosea this week, I am going to get it out again and enjoy the saga of true and unconditional love.

The story of the prophet Hosea is one of repentance and forgiveness.  Hosea has been charged with the passion to tell his people to run from their ways.  He reminds the people over and over again that God is a loving and forgiving God and He is awaiting their return.

This message is the same Good News we have today.  Do you feel like your life is a mess?  Do you wonder how God could ever forgive you, much less use you for His glory?  Have you given up on God, on His love for you?  Again, the Good News is, He has not given up on you.  Until your dying breath there is opportunity to grab hold of the Grace of Jesus Christ.

Hosea 6:3 (NIV)
"Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth."

I can testify from personal experience to this truth.  For years I went my own way, blazed my own trails and didn't much care how many trees I felled in the process. Once I ran into Jesus and witnessed His compassion and love for me, everything changed.  I changed.  So, are you ready for a change?  Is it time to give up all those things that aren't really working for you and turn to the One who makes all things right?
