The Story - Chapter 20 - Esther 9,10

God is always present, even when he doesn't seem to be. The story held within the pages of Esther greatly impacted the lives of the Jewish people then, and obviously still does now. Unless you are Jewish, or associate with those who are, you may not be aware of this story or have any idea what traditions the Jews have besides perhaps Hanukkah. Jesus was Jewish you know.

All of the events in Esther were part of God's plan leading up to the Jewish triumph over Haman and all those who were against them. Some of the events leading up to this time have been incorporated into the Purium celebration. Esther 9:27 "The Jews took it upon themselves to establish the custom that they and their descendants and all who join them should without fail observe these two days every year, in the way prescribed and at the time appointed. These days should be remembered and observed in every generation by every family, and in every province and in every city. And these days of Purium should never cease to be celebrated by the Jews, nor should the memory of them die out among their descendants." This observation is a VERY important 'holiday" for Jews, as Christmas and Easter are to Christians. A year without celebrating these holidays would just be wrong. So it is the same for Purium. In order to more fully understand God's word, it is important we learn about what is in the Bible. It is all there for a purpose. God's purpose.
