There are times when the work before us seems overwhelming. We often recognize that we are in over our head and cannot accomplish a task alone. For some projects, we can call on a friend to assist us, but very often we need more help because the job is monumental in scope.
There is no need for us to falter and cry out in defeat, not when we have the power of prayer at our disposal. We can be certain that when we are working for God, when the task set before us is one that God has convicted us to pursue, then He will be there to make it happen.
I am learning, sometimes the hard way, that God gives tasks to accomplish that we are not equipped to do. He does this for a couple reasons. The first reason is He wants me to get on my knees and seek His help through prayer. A second reason to so that I learn how to surrender to Him and acknowledge that I am an instrument He will use when I ask for help in prayer.
Nehemiah 6:15-16 (NIV)
"So the wall was completed on the twenty-fifth of Elul, in fifty-two days. When all our enemies heard about this, all the surrounding nations were afraid and lost their self-confidence, because they realized that this work had been done with the help of our God."
The wall around the city was built in fifty-two days. Amazing? The people prayed, and once the wall had been erected, they gave the credit to God. What is it you are trying to accomplish that is over-powering you, what is it you find too much to handle? Have you tried praying? Have you gotten down on your knees and asked God for help? Don't be surprised at the outcome.
