Ephesians 1: 16-23

This week, Chuck Swindoll finished up a series on family relationships on the radio. It is called “Biblical Parenting.” I listen to Chuck every morning while I am getting ready for work. This seasoned gentleman pastor has a way of communicating very delicate subject matter in a way that is believable, sincere and powerful. As he spoke of relationships between parents and their adult children, my ears and heart opened wide, for I love my children beyond words no matter what their age. As he spoke, he referenced Ephesians 1: 18-19, and I reached for my paper and pencil to jot down the verses-something I do as I listen while hurriedly preparing for the day having no time to stop to look it up. In the evening or on the weekend when I have time, I take out my bible and read the passage. It's curious that these same verses are contained in today’s reading. Why does that happen? There’s got to be something to it. Of all the thousands of verses in the bible, how could the exact same verses be brought to me two days in a row without a purpose?  Chuck referred to it as a message of hope.  No matter how damaged we may be as individuals or families, there is hope for repair and reconciliation if we have faith and hope, and allow God to work in us.

“I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and His incomparably great power for us who believe.”

In Chuck’s words: Parenting is a privilege…and yet it often feels like a penalty. Whether persevering through infant’s cries, grappling with a teenager’s attitude, or thinking through a grown child’s problems, all parents struggle. Where can we turn for sound advice?
"The Bible presents the foundations of solid parenting strategies for every parent………."

It’s about loving God and loving others unconditionally as the Lord loves us.
It’s about asking for forgiveness.
It’s about forgiving and moving on in His grace.
It’s about finding peace in Him.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
