The Life Application
Bible Commentary notes that David not only prayed for rescue, he prayed for
victory. Praying for victory is an entirely new concept for me.
But, I think it is high time I took God out of this neat and tidy little
box I have placed Him in and start praying BIGGER. Reading through the
Book of Psalms is expanding my way of thinking of God; it is broadening my way
of praying to God.
My prayers were usually pleas
for relief from the moment, from whatever trouble loomed overhead. They
addressed the immediate, demanding rescue from the moment. They never asked for victory forever.
God can do this, He wants to do this, but, I have heard it said that we receive not because we ask not.
