Psalm 138:7 (NIV) Though I walk in
the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against
the anger of my foes, with your right hand you save me.
Each and every day of our lives we walk in the midst of trouble. Trouble comes in many forms and shapes. Sometimes I think we never even see trouble coming and then too, there are instances where we were protected from trouble and never knew it.
Imagine all the times we have crossed a busy street but felt safe making a move into the intersection because of the traffic lights. We crossed when appropriate; we stepped out into the traffic believing that all the oncoming cars and trucks would obey the rules, and stop. But, what if there were no rules, no laws to keep order and to keep us safe.
It is good to read through the Psalms today and come across the verse above. My prayers each morning are filled with petitions, some are unspoken even, but they are meant to include keeping me and everyone I love safe and secure, knowing You (God) preserve my life.
I wonder how many people I should consider as foes. Even one is too many. But thankfully God has us covered; you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes.
I believe this line, Psalm 138:7 needs to be my daily prayer, the one verse I memorize and use each day as I roll out of bed. Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes, with your right hand you save me.
Psalm 136, 137, 138
