Factory Default

Matthew 7:21 (NIV)  "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

I was watching a program recently about Heaven and one of the points made was that most people believe that when they are born, they are Heaven bound. We are only destined to spend eternity in hell when we change that path. A common belief is, the life we live will determine our final resting place. If we are a 'good person', Heaven will be waiting for us.

The DVD teaching continued with the bold statement that when we are born, the default setting is hell.  We must change that by accepting Jesus as our Savior. While this is a thought provoking remark, and one I never considered before, it is the truth.

This changes everything, don't you think?  We can all talk a good talk, but it is only noise.  Our walk is what counts.  The path we take determines our destination.  I can't get in the car and head south if I want to end up in the north woods of Wisconsin. The only way to get where I want to go is to take the right road.  This requires a good map to refer to often and I must pay close attention to road signs along the way.

A World Atlas contains maps, geography and facts of every country in the world.  Without the Bible to tell us about Jesus we would travel in circles with no clear path to Heaven. A Believer's map is Jesus and our atlas the Bible which tells us all we need to know to accept Jesus as the way to our final destination. Without these tools, every traveler will default to their original setting.
