Enduring Love

His Love Endures Forever. This line is repeated with every verse in this Psalm. This Psalm of thanksgiving is filled with all for which we should be thankful. When I strike a pose of thankfulness to God and struggle to bring to mind those things for which I should be thankful, this Psalm has it covered.

Psalm 136:1 (NIV) Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. And the list goes on. This is like the Psalmist's gratitude list, as the writer acknowledges all the LORD has done.

• made the heavens
• spread out the earth upon the waters
• made the great lights
• the sun by day and stars by night
• brought Israel out from captivity
• divided the Red Sea

This list goes on and on. What can you and I tack on to this catalog of gifts? My list would be more personalized to my life and situation. It would look something like this.

• family nearby
• grandsons
• a wonderful job I love
• great friends
• daily provisions
• good health
