Listening for a Word

Psalm 110:1 (NIV)
The LORD says to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet."

I often hesitate when writing on verses from scripture, knowing how little I really do know about God's Word.  I pause before putting words on the page because I don't want to put my words in God's mouth. The last thing this writer wants is to lead anyone astray.  That said, I know that God uses His Word to minister to me and to you.  He uses the same words in a variety of ways.

I could read from Psalm 110 and glean a revelation for my life or current situation. I could hear a word of encouragement and direction that I have been seeking.  You might read this same Psalm and your ears might pick up on a verse and sense God speaking to your heart a very different manner.  I stand amazed and in awe of this.

The power of God's Word is evident to me each time I turn to it.  Without fail I sense His love and His grace; in the form of admonishment, hope, forgiveness or peace. This verse above is assuring me that God is in control and Jesus is right there with Him. The words calm my worries with the knowledge that the Bible reaches me right where I am today.

Listen to the words of this song, close your eyes and then ask God to use the Scriptures to speak, to give you hope, encouragement and direction for the day that lay before you.
