Boy, Was I Ever Wrong!

Acts 9:19-22 (NIV) He got up and was baptized, and after taking some food, he regained his strength. Saul spent several days with the disciples in Damascus. At once he began to preach in the synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God. All those who heard him were astonished and asked, "Isn't he the man who raised havoc in Jerusalem among those who call on this name? And hasn't he come here to take them as prisoners to the chief priests?" Yet Saul grew more and more powerful and baffled the Jews living in Damascus by proving that Jesus is the Christ.

Saul, now a Believer, is acting like an excited child who just discovered the world beyond his own front yard. The verse reads: At once he began to preach in the synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God. (V20) Saul is determined to tell everyone who will listen, about his experience.

Can you imagine the look on the faces of those gathered for instruction? The Sanhedrin viewed Saul as the man to take down the insurgent followers of Jesus; the man they put to death to stop all this nonsense. Saul was their hero, the go to man.

Now, Saul is learning the truth, he is discovering how wrong his former beliefs were and he is on a mission to tell the world. While he isn't ready to teach about Jesus, his new found faith can't be contained and he needs to tell his story.

The lesson for us is clear. We don't have to have teacher credentials to share our joy, only a changed heart. It isn't necessary we have all the answers, just a willingness to live a life worthy of imitation. We need to be certain we are living the kind of life that will back up our words and witness.
