Rebuilding and Resistance

There are times we hear a saying or maybe even voice the thought ourselves, "I am just waiting for the other shoe to drop." In other words, we are anticipating something more is going to happen, and usually it isn't something good.  When things are going really smooth and life feels good, there is the feeling it won't last.

We would do well to always remember, Your enemy, Satan prowls around like a lion looking for someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8)  It is hard to tell if the Jewish people were expecting opposition when they started to rebuild the temple, but it was there.  And it appeared in the form of friendly neighbors who wanted to help them with the construction. Satan was prowling.

These neighbors proclaimed to worship the same God and wanted to be part of this endeavor. While it was true, they also worshiped every other idol and god available.  They were covering all the bases. These people had only one intention, to divert the work of the Jews, to delay if not derail the temple project.  Satan was prowling.

What is going on in your life that you need to be weary of.  Are you trying to move forward; attempting to rebuild your life, but feel lots of resistance?  Maybe you can't even put your finger on the problem; you just know in your spirit that something isn't right.  Rebuilding lives is from God, expect opposition. Satan is prowling.  It took much longer for the Israelites to complete the rebuild than they ever expected, because of the roadblocks they encountered, but they did finish it.

Satan might be prowling, but we serve a God who will overcome all obstacles in our path if we just turn to Him.
