It's Alive!!

Do you ever marvel at the Bible? At the pure thought that it was written by God, Himself? Maybe we have moments of epiphany, where we are overwhelmed by the living Word and its origin. But if we fully grasped the idea that God is the author, I think our time spent in the Bible might look different. 

The One who made the galaxies and every living thing wrote a book! Actually, 66 of them. He took His time...over 1,500 years. He used 40 different writers from 3 different continents. And yet the Bible flows with consistency, and a unified message of salvation through Christ. Crazy!

The Bible is often called the living Word. Why? Every book you hold in your hand is from the past. It was thought of, and written. It can become outdated, the facts can become untrue, it can lose value or worth. But the Bible is present. The Holy Spirit is alive and active within the pages of scripture! Faith is created when we spend time in the Word, faith is strengthened when we spend time in the Word, and God often speaks to us through His word. 

About 7 months ago, my husband and I were in the hospital holding our third born son, Malachi. He was 40 hours old, dying in our arms from a fatal heart condition. During Malachi's last few minutes, my husband randomly opened the Bible, and this was the first thing that caught his eye:

"Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Kingdom of God."  - Matthew 16:28

This is just one powerful example of the Bible in action. I have many more. No other book in the world is alive and present. No book breathes life into its readers like the Bible! It reveals truth, offers eternal life, and gives us direct access to God in Heaven. Anytime, anywhere.
