Love Makes our World Go Round

Love is often thought of as a feeling.  I reality, love is a choice and an action. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 points out love is patient and kind...it does not demand its own way...never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.

God is the source of our love and Jesus is the example of what it means to love. This little word, love, is such a big deal. Love makes the world go around, to quote an old song. But when we think about it, isn't that true? Aren't we as humans looking for something our entire life, aren't we seeking others attention, approval, love?

The child clings to his parents, embraces a grandparent and looks to others for affirmation and devotion. Relationships make or break us at different times in life. When we are loved, we thrive. When we love someone else, the world is brighter and our future appears filled with endless possibilities.

Those seasons in life when a relationship comes to an end, we wonder how we will go on; we don't know what to do next and there is a feeling of loss and emptiness. But, when love fills our life, we are indestructible. There doesn't seem to be anything we cannot do, no situation so grave we can't face it down. Love makes all the difference.

Now, God is Love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them. And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in the world. (1 John 4:16-17)
