When We Open the Door

Worship: the feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity.

The church service is beginning. People gather into the sanctuary as music starts to fill the room. Songs are lifted up to God. People sing, stand, raise their hands in adoration of the King. The Spirit moves about the room and believers can feel His presence. They are drawn into Him. This is worship.

A believer spends the afternoon outside. Captured by the beauty of nature and all that the Maker has created. God meets His child in the wilderness, and they can't help but stand in awe of His power and glory. This is worship.

A father stares at his newborn baby. Blown away at the sanctity of human life. Amazed at the extraordinary detail that goes into each new human being. So in love, and so thankful to God for a sweet, healthy child to call his own. His first glimpse at God's love for us. This is worship.

God loves the worship of His people. He takes it in as a sweet fragrance, and it pleases Him. Worship may look different to each believer. Not everyone enjoys singing, not everyone enjoys the outdoors, but we all meet God somewhere. And He looks forward to that time with us.

Psalm 96:1-2
Sing to the Lord a new song; Sing to the Lord all the Earth.
Sing to the Lord, praise His name; proclaim His salvation day after day.

Even the Earth God created is meant to worship Him.

Psalm 96:11-13a
Let the Heavens rejoice, let the Earth be glad;
let the sea resound, and all that is in it.
Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them;
let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.
Let all creation rejoice before the Lord...

God loves our worship, and He meets us there. We are meant to bring Him honor and praise. It feeds our soul, and draws us closer to Him. This week, make time to worship God. He is waiting. And when we open the door, He will enter in.

Psalm 96:4-6

For great is the Lord and most worthy of praise;
He is to be feared above all gods.
For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens.
Splendor and majesty are before Him;
strength and glory are in His sanctuary.

Questions to Ponder this week:
1. Where does God most often meet you in worship?
2. How can you seek Him out in the mundane?
