Winter bears the darkness. A harsh, cold reality of life's challenges and barricades. Winter holds our seasons of trial and pain. Winter tells us there is no hope to come; no spring to be sprung. No song to be sung.
Yet, the first glimmer of spring brings hope. Hope for change, for another try, for a new season, for better opportunity, for a fresh start, for a lighter load, for a happier life. With hope comes a new sense of joy. With joy comes a genuine thankfulness to God. Yes, he deserves our prayers of thanksgiving through the winters. But spring is a season to wholeheartedly pour out our thanks to Him. For the work He has done through the bitter cold. For the hope in what lies ahead. Thankfulness that He is purposeful in each and every season we find ourselves in.
Lord, save us! Lord, grant us success!
Psalm 118:25
As we literally find ourselves entering into this season of spring, may those of us spiritually entering into this same season be reminded of all the ways our hearts can pour out thanks to God. His love endures. He is good. He is faithful. Winter is gone, and new life is among us! May the rains become warm, the skies turn to blue, and the birds return with their songs.
This week, find rest in the warmth of Abba's arms. And may new life, new opportunity, new sense of joy, or this new chapter lead you back to the One who lead you out of winter's grasp.
Open for me the gates of the righteous;
I will enter and give thanks to the Lord.
This is the gate of the Lord
through which the righteous may enter.
I will give you thanks, for you answered me;
You have become my salvation.
Psalm 118: 19-21
