Then Job replied to the Lord:
“I know that you can do all things;
no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’
Surely I spoke of things I did not understand,
things too wonderful for me to know.
no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’
Surely I spoke of things I did not understand,
things too wonderful for me to know.
“You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak;
I will question you,
and you shall answer me.’
My ears had heard of you
but now my eyes have seen you.
Therefore I despise myself
and repent in dust and ashes.” Job 42:1-6

If I am honest, I often avoid the Book of Job. I page past it because it is so hard to read and take to heart. I fear God wants to do with me what He did with Job and that scares me. Because of this fear I realize I do not trust God to do what is best for me. I deny His perfect love in attempt to keep myself safe. How foolish!
God is going to do what God is going to do. He is God after all and He knows best. One would think that by the time I reach a ripe old age, having walked this earth for a number of years -- many of them with God -- that trust would not be an issue. But it is. After everything I have been through with God at my side, I still fear He will test me beyond my endurance.
It is time to read this book with Faith and with Love. It is time to pour over the words of Job and discover a God who is worthy of all my trust. It is time to pray the words: "I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted." (Job 42:1) It is time to live them out.
