Unity in Christ

The people living in Judah were filled with despair.  Assyria’s attacks seemed unstoppable. Where was God?  Had He forsaken His people -- was there reason still to hope?

Isaiah delivered a message of condemnation for a sinful nation, along with a message of hope for a day of restoration that would come though the Lord’s Servant, the Messiah.

“In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his resting place will be glorious.” Isaiah 11:10

The prophetic poetry of Isaiah ignites our imaginations, touching the deepest longing of our hearts and our hopes. Isaiah declared the coming of One (the Root of Jesse,) who would fulfill our longing for a new order of life and love.

"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the the old order of things has passed away." Revelation 21:4

The current order of nature on earth will transition to a supernatural order where wild and domestic animals cohabit, where children play, unafraid of harm from animals or humans, where war is not incited by political passions, prejudice and hatred.

“The wolf will live with the lamb,
    the leopard will lie down with the goat,
the calf and the lion and the yearling together;
    and a little child will lead them.”  Isaiah 11:6

“They will neither harm nor destroy
    on all my holy mountain,
 for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord
 as the waters cover the sea.  Isaiah 11:9

Jesus is the Root that sprung from Jesse, from David, from the tribe of Judah. He is the Lion of Judah, the only begotten Son of God who redeems us through His sacrificial blood offering, (purifying and unifying all who will freely enter into His rest.)
