“I am a bow in your hands Lord. Draw me lest I rot.
Do not overdraw me, Lord I shall break.
Overdraw me Lord, and who cares if I break.”
(Nikos Kazantzakis)
The finest china in the world is burned at least three
times, to bring out the gold and crimson purposed there to stay. After the same principle, our trials are burned into us,
and by God’s grace the colors are there to stay.
We can’t morph into a life of
trust without passing through hard places. When we are put to a test we reveal
the hidden resources of our character and worthiness as followers of Jesus. It has been granted to us not only to believe
in Him but also to share in His suffering.
“Beloved, think it not strange concerning the
fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But
rejoice, in as much as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his
glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy." 1 Peter 4:12-13
We suffer the inherent results of sin of the
world. A single phone call can quickly alter
the rhythm of our lives. When tragedy occurs,
the world seems hostile and foreign. Our minds are numb and our hearts vacant. On our lonely journey, God may be silent -- and
yet it may happen at such times that beyond a rational explanation, we feel a
nail-scarred hand clutching ours.”

Child”, Brennan Manning
