Corinthians 5:20-21 (MSG)
We're Christ's representatives. God uses us to persuade men and women to drop their differences and enter into God's work of making things right between them. We're speaking for Christ himself now: Become friends with God; he's already a friend with you. How? you say. In Christ. God put the wrong on him who never did anything wrong, so we could be put right with God.
Talk about NOT FAIR! The fact that Jesus, who was without sin, was lied about, convicted and executed; now that's not fair. God traded his righteousness for our sin - he exchanged the most valuable life for us. That doesn't seem fair, but God knew it was necessary to our redemption.
On any given day, we can feel oppressed or mistreated, and it could be all true, but as noted on Monday, life isn't always fair, it is just life in a fallen world. Only through a relationship with Jesus can we see the fairness of it all. Only through a relationship with Jesus will other relationships have meaning. Only Jesus can make this life worth living.
So, what in your life seems unfair? Do you look back on your childhood and say, "If only (fill in the blank), then things would be different today?" Do you remember the illness that took your grandfather from you and consider how unfair it was? What about the job you almost had, or the great vacation that was just waiting for you to enjoy when your finances took a nose dive?
Knowing that life is not always fair, for anyone, puts us all on the same level. But, those of us who know Jesus have an advantage. We know this isn't all there is and that one day it will all be fair. We must share this good news so everyone who ever cried out in frustration and pain the desperate cry, "No Fair!" will see the goodness of God and know it will be okay real soon.
