Ephesians 5:8-14
This is what love looks like ----
The past week’s news brings memories of the tumultuous sixties with
civil anarchy and assassins claiming the lives of prominent leaders in our
country.
Due to rioting in South Bend and Chicago, my husband was called at
1:00 AM to report immediately for National Guard duty.
It is not “fake news,” conflict between individuals, races,
religions and nations continues to rage
Hal David’s 1965 lyrics remain timely. “What the world needs now is love, sweet love, It's the only thing that there's just too little of.”
But God commends his own love
toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
To walk in love is to model what Paul wrote to the Ephesians. “Be
therefore imitators of God.” It is God’s nature to love - “God is love”!” 1 John 4:8 He is creator, provider, sustainer,
healer, comforter-AND He so loved the
world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him should not
perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16
Jesus held nothing back! He demonstrated
love without limits as God’s representative of everlasting love. “A new command
I give to you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so must you love one
another. John 13:34
Next to the Blessed Sacrament itself, your
neighbor is the holiest object presented to your senses. If he is your
Christian neighbor he is holy in almost the same way, for in him also Christ
the Glorifier is truly hidden.
(The Weight of Glory, C.S. Lewis)
“Wake up, sleeper, rise from the
dead, and Christ will shine on you. For you
were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of
light!” Ephesians 5: 8 and 14
