Revelation 4 - The scene and perspective now shift from
earth to heaven as John has a vision of the One seated on the throne. John says
He seems to be shot with diamond light, to glow red as ruby. Everything speaks
of His power, purity, glory and faithfulness. Ongoing, never-ending praise
surrounds Him. Holy, holy, holy is the Lord!
We can hardly imagine this scene as our sense of awe, wonder,
reverence and sensitivity for “things sacred” has been diminished and
anesthetized by the world system and by our culture.
We use and misuse the name of God in many ways. Apparent is the texting acronym “OMG.” My Jewish friend writes on cards to me “g-d bless you." With respect and reverence from an interpretation of
Deuteronomy 12:3-4 she doesn’t speak or write the name of God that is so familiar
to us. Through our great
High Priest Jesus, we can boldly approach God’s throne of grace, and that is
the only familiarity we dare assume.
God created us to Praise
Him. He created everything to praise Him. If we are not going to do
it, the rocks and trees will take over for us. God created them to praise. They are always humming and vibrating in praise to Him.
“You will
go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of
the field will clap their hands." Isaiah 55:12
Through praise and worship great dynamos of power are set
in motion, as when a switch is thrown and the electrical power plant at Niagara goes into operation. The power of our praise may not be known to us until
we are home with the Lord. Still, the act of praising Him brings peace, joy and
health to us and to others.
“Oh, that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the
children of men!” Psalm 107:8 KJV
Today
--- “LET EVERYTHING THAT HAS BREATH PRAISE THE LORD!’
