Scripture Reading
Read Psalm 25:1-5 and reflect on the passage.
From ancient times, the Jewish people have been waiting for God’s promise of a Savior to be fulfilled. Many Psalms speak of it; Isaiah prophesies about it. In fact, much of the Old Testament points to the coming Messiah. Verse 5 of Psalm 25 is an example. David writes, “You are God my Savior, and my hope is in You all day long.”

Then, in Jesus’ time, Simeon lived in eager anticipation of
the fulfillment of God’s promise of a Messiah. Did Simeon know how God was
going to accomplish it? No, but he knew it when he saw it, upon observing the
baby Jesus with his parents in the temple, because the Holy Spirit told him
(Luke 2:25-32).
We have the benefit of hind-sight regarding Christ’s first
coming, but, like Simeon, we must wait for (hope in) the second coming of Our
Savior, Our Hope. We don’t know exactly how God will accomplish it either.
However, is it possible that we will know for sure as His return is taking
place, because the Holy Spirit will reveal it to those awaiting His return,
just as He did for Simeon? Come, Lord Jesus, we hope in You!
QuestionsCan
you say with David, that God is your Savior, and that your hope is in Him all
day long?Have
you received God's one and only Savior this season, and are you eagerly
anticipating Christ's return?
Prayer
Thank You, Lord, that You kept Your promise of a Savior for
us. Because You are trustworthy, I can believe and have hope in You.
