Scripture Reading
Read Hebrews 1:1-12 and reflect on the passage.
Many people have worked hard for fame and fortune. Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, Henry Ford, and Andrew Carnegie are a few in the business arena. Others have wanted greatness and power. Zedung, Stalin, Hitler, Nero, Castro, and Caligula are a few in the political arena. Sports are filled with athletes who want to be best, with Muhammad Ali declaring, perhaps tongue in cheek, “I am the Greatest!”

Today’s reading is about greatness. Jesus is Great. He is the
Son of God and our Creator, the radiance of God’s glory, sustaining all things.
Jesus teaches us about His Father. Jesus is ruling, and will continue to rule, His
heavenly kingdom.
Many people who want greatness actually want to be served.
They want the accolades of others and they want power over others. While Jesus
deserves all of this, this is not who He is.
Jesus gave up heavenly greatness to serve people on earth. He
healed, He taught and He even corrected. His greatest gift to us, however, is
that He traded His life for our sins, thereby making us acceptable to His
Father, so that we can have eternal life.
Jesus is the greatest because He serves!
Questions
How does Jesus
serve you, and how does it impact your life?
How can you mimic
Christ’s service to you by serving others?
Prayer
Thank you God for Jesus’ service to me. Please find ways for
me to propagate God’s love by serving others.
