The King is Crowned

We know people who live a parent’s worst fear of losing a beloved child. We know that only God can hold a heart that is both beating and bleeding, those who are walking through life with a limp. Jesus, ever-compassionate is Lord of life and death. “But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 3:20.
Of the Gospel writers, only Luke recorded the raising of the widow’s son at the town of Nain. Jesus, filled with compassion raised the only son of a mother who was widowed. His heart went out to her. He said, “don’t cry.” Luke 7:12. Luke doesn’t indicate any great faith or request on her part, yet Jesus was moved by her grief. He went about doing good, and healing all. Acts 10:38.
News spread of the holy rabbi who could be found in the streets addressing the sorrowful, bringing a message of hope. They loved Him and crowded around Him, longing to touch Him. He spoke of the mercy of God. I expect His words moved them less than His countenance, for He appeared all love and consolation. He was one with them, their king in rags who would soon be crowned with thorns.

The strong hands of God twisted the crown of thorns into a crown of glory; and in such hands we are safe.” (Charles Williams)
