I’ve always loved to read; but as an adult, life took over and I found myself barely able to make it through a short article or a few pages of a novel without getting distracted or simply falling asleep. Very recently, God granted me the time and space to begin reading again and I jumped right in. Suddenly, I found myself engrossed in five books at once. (I’ll admit this was a little too much/too soon and I’ve had to cut back.)
When reading today’s passage - Ephesians 2:4-7 - it was no surprise that in nearly every book currently sitting on my desk and nightstand, I’ve encountered God’s word telling me the same thing over and over… God is leading the way; He is in charge.
If you continue to verse 8, it says: 8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.
Some of the sweetest words to my ears each Sunday are “for it is by grace you have been saved. Your sins are forgiven in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.” Every time I make the Sign of the Cross, I can actually feel my body relax.
I may sin, but God forgives me. He forgave me long ago through is son, Jesus. It is a gift only He can give and it’s because of His gift, I am saved. I thank God that he has used so many authors and so many books, not the least of which the Bible, to pour these vital words into me again and again. May my mind and heart be open to hearing His message of salvation each and every time.
