The story of Jesus' first miracle at the wedding feast is a prime example of how Jesus cares about every aspect of our life. It also an example of Jesus acting on our behalf just because it is important to us. He cares about us and wants us to turn to Him for everything. Nothing is too big or too small. He is a powerful King and there is nothing out of His reach. Even turning water into wine.
In his book, Four Cups, Chris Hodges writes: "You many find yourself in some type of bondage right now. It could be an addiction or a secret habit that you cling to...Regardless of what entangles you, freedom that comes from the Cup of Sanctification begins when you invite God into your heart."
When we are in pain, God wants to give us relief, when we are in trouble He loves and cares about us and is there to help. In Exodus 6:6 God promised the Israelites, "I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians." God promises to bring us out from under our yokes as well. The Israelites were fleeing their oppressors, the Egyptians. So, what or who are our 'Egyptians'? What is it we need God to help with?
The invitation extended to Jesus by the hosts of the wedding, saved the day for them. The invitation extended to us by God, to know and love His Son Jesus, will save our future.
We have a Powerful King who can do more than we could ever ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
John 2:1-11
