The Voice of Truth

Welcome, Angie Gowans, to Daily Bible Blast. We look forward to reading the words God puts on Angie's heart to share with us on a few Mondays every month. Glad you are here.

From Isaiah 30:9-11 we learn about rebellious people who are unwilling to listen to the Lord's instruction. They say, "Give us no more visions of what is right!" Tell us pleasant things, prophesy illusions. Leave this way, get off the path, and stop confronting us with the Holy One of Israel!"

Proverbs 18:1 says, "An unfriendly man pursues selfish ends; he defies all sound judgment."

These Old Testament verses remind me of 2 Timothy 4:3 which says, "For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine.  Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear."

Does this seem to be true in our day?  Do people want to hear only things that suit their own desires?  Of course!  We hear it all the time....."Don't judge me!"....."Be tolerant of other people."  When I searched the word "tolerance" on the internet, here is the definition that came up:

The ability to or willingness to tolerate something, in particular the existence of opinions or behavior that one does not necessarily agree with.  "the tolerance of corruption"
Synonyms:  acceptance, open-mindedness, broad mindedness, liberalism, patience, charity, indulgence, understanding.  "an attitude of tolerance toward other people"

What was intended to be a good attitude has been taken too far.  We need to always compare our attitudes to the Word of God, so that we are not deceived.

Proverbs 13:14 says, "The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning a man from the snares of death."  Let's keep going to the fountain of life by following the teaching of the wise, which is the Word of God.  They are not just idle words for you - they are your life! (Deut. 32:47, exclamation point added)

Proverbs 18:1-8
