King of Rigthteousness - True Nobility

Read:  Isaiah 32:1-8

Okay, take off your “right answer” Sunday School hat right now. Close your eyes and ask yourself, what are your TRUE first reactions to these words:

Supreme Ruler

Powerful King

Nobility

Royalty

Did you think of an evil dictator?  Those hungry for power at all costs?  Those of Noble birth or Royalty that are only centered on themselves and their personal gain?  

Now try to think of a King of Righteousness.  What does He look like?  Not just outwardly good to gain something, but pure through and through, in His thoughts, motives and actions.  So pure that He almost makes you uncomfortable, because His righteousness shines a light in the dark places of your heart. 

Who is this King of Righteousness?  We know Him as Jesus, the one who was humbly born in a stable, who walked the earth, healing the sick, eating with sinners, calling out the proud, speaking profound words like this!

It seemed as though the reign of this King who was turning the world upside down, was defeated when those in powerful positions arranged to have Him executed by death on a cross.  He did not resist them. He did not try to defend Himself. He nobly stayed the course and obediently followed the plan His Father had laid out for Him. 

This plan was the greatest exchange of all time!! Jesus came to live as the ONLY RIGHTEOUS human to ever walk this planet.  Why?  So that as He was unjustly executed, He took upon Himself the weight of all the WRONG in us, the sins of the whole world, those living in the past, present and future. In exchange, He freely gives His blazing righteousness to all those who trust in Him. 

It has been 2000 years since Jesus walked this earth,  But make no mistake. This glorious King of Righteousness is coming again!  In the meantime, He has commissioned us as His Princes (and Princesses) of justice while we await His return. 

Do we see evil, wickedness, ungodliness, injustice, scarcity, pain, suffering all around us every day?  Yes! Do you long for the day when He will make all things right? He is still reigning Supreme, and His Resurrected Power is still at work. He is using US in His Kingdom of Righteousness to bring the light of righteousness into the dark places of this world.

You (yes YOU), noble Princes and Princesses, are given these words of hope and encouragement today.   

Isaiah 32:8  But he who is noble, plans noble things, and on noble things he stands.

Philippians 4:8  Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 

1 Peter 2:4-5, 9 As you come to Him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious, you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.
