Through
prayer we unleash the power of heaven for trials we face on earth. Our urgent prayers are heard immediately. As parents quickly recognize and respond to the cries of their
children, so are our cries for help heard by our Father.
King
David’s desperate prayer was heard immediately. “I call
to you, Lord, come quickly to me; hear me when
I call to you.” Psalm 141:1
Triage
(a
French word) means to separate out. Medical context triage refers to degrees of urgency,
the order of treatment, recognition of what is urgent
and can’t wait. I have experienced the surge of power respondent to desperate prayer both personally and professionally as a triage nurse.
Unlike
ritualistic prayer practiced by warriors preparing for battle, unlike the
faithful offering the sacrifice of praise and purification through confession,
desperate prayer can’t afford the luxury of ritual and time. Praise God we have
a great High Priest who has washed us and purified us with his blood. “Let
us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive
mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” Hebrews 4:16
“Sometimes I'm
hiding away from the madness around me like a child who's afraid of the dark. But
when I call on Jesus, all things are possible, I can mount on wings like
eagles' and soar. When I call on Jesus, mountains are gonna fall - cause he
will move heaven and earth to come rescue me when I call.”

on Jesus)
