There are times in our lives when things get so very complicated. We find ourselves in a situation that we did not expect. There is confusion and pain. We can feel our hearts breaking and we don't know what to do. How do we pray for help in situations we can't begin to understand? We have been blindsided and taken out of the game. "Dear Jesus, help me!" is all we can get out. And that is sufficient.
We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. (verse 26)
This is where Jesus steps in and takes over for us. His Holy Spirit intercedes and prays the words we cannot begin to compose. He prays silently and wordlessly to the Father. All we must do is breathe in and breathe out. God's got this.
We don't know how to pray, but the Holy Spirit does, and He goes to the Father on our behalf. How great is that! He knows there are no words to tell about the situation and he intercedes through wordless groans.
Romans 8:26-27
