A Fairy Tale Ending

Why do weddings make women like me cry?  I know I am not the only one, this phenomenon is universal.  As the beautiful Bride begins walking down the aisle toward her Groom, women in the audience are reaching for their Kleenex.

Even watching a particularly romantic movies scene will bring most of us to tears, like Rose walking down the staircase to Jack’s waiting arms in the "Titanic."

The emotions that well up range from overwhelming joy and happiness, feelings of hopefulness, and the anxious, vulnerable feelings of uncertainty.  Some may be saying beneath their tears, “they don’t really know what they are getting themselves in to.”

Love and relationships are uncertain.  We hope things will work out, we pray for the best, but we all know in our heart of hearts, relationships are hard work and rarely have a “fairy tale - happily ever after” ending.  Soon we discover our significant other leaves their dirty socks on the floor, or even worse, they discover we “pass gas.”

The reality is we are all hopelessly flawed and broken beyond repair. We all fear that maybe we just aren't worthy of love.

Yet the amazing thing is, Jesus came for us anyway.  He loved us even while we were "yet sinners."  He died a cruel death so we could be washed clean!

One day we will be washed clean, dressed in the purest, finest white linen, ornately robed, and presented before our Bridegroom without spot or blemish!  He has invited us to live with Him in complete bliss and joy for ALL ETERNITY.

Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."

Today's passage ends, “These are the true words of God.”

This is no fantasy, no fairy tale.  This is not wishful thinking or reckless hope.  Our Savior IS coming back for us.  If we trust in Him, we will be in His arms of love FOREVER!  Of this we can have full assurance and live each day in CONFIDENT EXPECTATION of joy that will have no end.
