Genesis 3:1-22 |
Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the
wild animals the Lord
God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from
any tree in the garden’?” GENESIS 3:1
Evil tempts Eve in the Garden by
confusing her about what God said. Evil contradicts God enticing
Eve to be like God. Eve is certainly not equipped to comprehend evil. She takes a bite of the forbidden fruit. We can blame it on man’s insatiable desire for what we can't have. There in the bountiful Garden of Eden is
everything beautiful and yet, that one apple lured man into sin.
But it is Evil that got us.
God wanted to protect us from
evil. He never intended for our lives to be separate from a relationship
with Him which is exactly what evil will do. We were created for His
enjoyment and for His good. Yet, evil exists and no one is quite sure why. It is not from God. But clearly, evil
wants a relationship with us and not for good.
So what is your favorite apple? What area
lured you into its trap by confusing you and contradicting God? Did that
one bite commit you to sin? Evil is
cunning, baffling and powerful in order to keep you.
It is evil that
holds onto us until we grasp the solution that God prepared for our
salvation. He put enmity between Evil and man forever and He promised
that Jesus would have victory over Satan.
Jesus is God’s solution. The
only direction away from evil is towards God. Determining that it is
evil's hold that is the problem, the only solution is to return to the place
of protection and goodness that God created for you.
But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?” GENESIS 3:9
