The Value of Godliness

Ruth 4:1-12
Complete trust in God is imperative because He provides all that is essential to us.  It is when we rely on our own sense of values that we can become misguided.
Take the fellow that turned down the offer to acquire both Ruth and her property.  He had no problem accepting the responsibility of the inheritance, until it was made clear that Ruth was part of the deal.  Then he changed his mind and never realized what it cost him. Whereas, Boaz knew the value of godliness, and by choosing to care for Ruth, God did him the honor of bringing him into the line of the Messiah!

What blessings might we miss when we seize opportunities with only an eye on our prize? When we determine what matters based on our limited perspective of what is important, we may be eliminating the very gifts that God has for us. We could be throwing the baby out with the bath water!
We turn down opportunities that seem like too much work or involve complications and there go the spiritual rewards, too! We can't tell how a single decision relates to all things. Therefore, shouldn’t we doubt ourselves more, and trust in God? Just by taking what we are already doing and putting God in the middle is how we value godliness.
Boaz was called a guardian redeemer and like Jesus, Our Redeemer, he "bought back" what was in danger of being lost, saving a spiritual inheritance. We can also choose God's ways, and "Do as, Boaz." Without knowing exactly how, we can know that God is using each one of us for His purposes.
