Jeroboam had not kept God’s commands or followed Him with all his heart. He had turned his back on God and was said to do more evil than all who lived before him. He had made other gods, and idols. Yet, when his son became deathly ill, he desperately called on God. (1 Kings 14:1-20)
Does it make any sense to know that "with a touch of His robe sick are healed", but to then limit Him to a crisis in life? Why keep God in a box asking Him to dispense blessings like a vending machine? Such an opportunistic approach prevents God from impacting all the other important areas of life.

It's a BIG ASK to escalate issues to God when we may not be very good stewards with what He's already given us. He's not here to serve us, especially when we've chosen not to serve Him! Remember, it's not TIT FOR TAT with God since He grants miracles because of His grace. However, an ongoing relationship with Him is how we receive all His blessings in our everyday life.
To some, praying has always been asking God to do something, but prayer life can simply be conversations with God. Discuss the little things. Offer Him praise! Worship Him in all things. When you include God more fully in your life, you may find that you seek His will and not your own, even in the tough times.
