They said, “Rabbi, where are you staying?"
“Come,” he replied, “and you will see.”
How often is it that we walk into the unknown of our futures with full and complete faith in God? With sure footing, with no hesitation, with no concerns about how we're getting where we're going or maybe without even a hint of where it is we're headed. That kind of trust is hard to come by with this human nature of ours. Yet Jesus says, "Come, and you will see."
As disciples of Jesus, we are called to follow. The early disciples, like Andrew and Peter, had no idea what they were getting themselves into when they started following Jesus. But Jesus asked them to trust and they did.
Maybe you know what’s coming this year. Maybe 2020 excites you with all that’s in store. Or maybe you feel fear, knowing what is to come this year. Whether you’re struggling with money or relationships, life decisions or worldly issues, whether things are going to change this year that you don’t want to change or things are going to stay the same that need changing—whether you think you’ve got it all figured out or you have no clue what 2020 will bring you. Jesus says, “Come, and you will see.” I encourage you to step into 2020 with eyes, heart, mind, and hands wide open to what God has for you. He will show up for you this year. That is his promise. Keep your eyes open to the small ways that he shows you his love every day, through people around you, his creation, satisfaction in work and rest. Keep your heart open to the work of the Father in you, the ways that he will shape and mold you this year. Keep your mind open to the will of God so you are able to follow wherever he leads. And keep your hands open to the work he has for you to do, and open to your neighbors around you in generosity and love.
