Mark 3:7-12
Like the rush at Walmart on Black Friday, are the crowds surrounding Jesus. News of His healing and miracles is spreading fast. People traveled from all over to receive some of what Jesus offered. The compelling desire for healing was infectious.
Jesus doesn't pander to the religious leaders or the Pharisees to make his life easier. He doesn't sugar coat His message or explain his actions. He is real and He is unique and that is part of the draw. Before people understand who He is, they are witness to what He does. The healing, the miracles, the kind words of love and not of law. His actions are attractive. His love is real.
Jesus meets people and their needs. He doesn't ask them to change before He will help them. He loves them before they even know him. He doesn't ask them what they have been doing with their lives. There is no condemnation, only love.
Because of all this, he is popular. The crowds surround. The disciples sense potential danger. Wisdom prompts Jesus to prepare an escape plan. Jesus knows His time has not yet come. He won't take the chance the masses will overrun them. Jesus' followers prepare a boat, in case they rush him like a mob.
And, in the midst of all this chaos and potential danger, Jesus attends to their needs; healing them and freeing those who are possessed. He preaches and teaches, and He loves them. This is the attraction--love.
