Cry out to Jesus

While traveling with his disciples, Jesus made himself known by performing miracles and sharing the gospel. At the end of a particularly long day spent with crowds of people, Jesus was tired, but He did not sleep. He went to the mountainside to pray and sent the disciples ahead of Him to cross the sea.

Soon, they encountered a storm on the water and became extremely terrified. Their fear grew as they were tossed about, but they did not call out to Jesus for they still didn't understand that He would be able to help even though He was not with them.

It wasn’t until they saw Jesus walking on the water that they thought of Him at all. He was walking steadily by their boat unaffected by the same winds and waves. They cried out when they recognized Him, having realized that circumstances were out of their control. Then He climbed into the boat with them.

Like that small boat, our inner storms leave us feeling out of control. Yet maybe, we weren't meant to meet life's problems on our own. Instead, we're to call on Jesus who calms the storm by changing us.

Jesus can walk on water when we cannot. What if we turned to Jesus for the spiritual strength we need to endure our threatening situations? He brings hope and even blessings where we would otherwise suffer alone. We needn't wait until we've reached deep despair before crying out to Jesus. Remember, when you call on Him, Jesus climbs into the boat with you.
