April 13 - Let the Good Word Spread

Luke 24:13-34

Such disappointment for these men. What they expected had blinded them from what they had seen. They walked home thinking their crucified Jesus was not the Messiah for they hadn’t imagined it would be through suffering that their ruler would reign.

As they strolled the pathway back to their village, they were unable to realize Christ who had risen and was now seeking them. It was through His divine intervention that Christ opened their eyes by the breaking of bread. Then they understood it was Jesus who had returned speaking the gospel to them as they walked.

The power of Jesus is often overlooked within suffering. Where is God in the world's current health and financial crises? We may assume He's forgotten us because things aren’t going well. Some may even decide that suffering means there is no God. How untrue, for it is through suffering that Jesus lives!

During this time of despair, we are called into action. The gospel is the hope and peace our co-workers, friends, and young people need to hear! In this time of uncertainty, God’s love remains unchanging! The Gospel must continue to go out because it is the hope for our future and the calm in the storm!
