Simon, with his sorcery, had amazed the people. The Samaritans had been drawn to him as he bewitched them with deception. The people said of Simon, "This man is rightly called the great power of God." (Acts 8:10)
Upon hearing that Samaria accepted the word of God, the apostles in Jerusalem sent Peter and John to observe how God was working. “When they arrived, they prayed for the new believers there that they might receive the Holy Spirit”. (Acts 8:15) Peter and John were able to place their hands on them “and they received the Holy Spirit”. (Acts 8:17)
The people were fully convinced that it was of God, and not of men. We know that unlearning something that is bad proves to be a harder task than to learn that which is good yet when the gospel prevails, evil is dislodged. How strong is the power of Divine grace, by which we are brought to Christ, who is Truth itself!
God is faithful and when He begins transformation of a soul (for even the most deceived individual), He brings the right people and the Holy Spirit. Let us continue to ask God to seek those people in our life who need Him most.
