What’s Your
Story?
by Judy Webb
The times we live in right now are anything but peaceful. There is violence, hatred, illness, uncertainty, and general confusion about right and wrong. The same could be said for the times Jesus and his disciples walked the earth. While we may think it was a simpler time; no social media, no TV and magazine articles promoting this person, or another way to live and believe, it was turbulent nonetheless. Those days were filled with as much conflicting rhetoric, beliefs, and troubles. In fact, every generation has seasons where peace seems elusive, out of reach.
27 Peace I leave
with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do
not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Jesus said these words to
his followers. These were parting words and familiar to those of that time.
But, coming from Jesus there was a deeper meaning, an implication, and a
promise that nothing was finished. Actually, it was just the beginning. This
peace was and is the promise of salvation.
As Believers, we have access to this type of peace. Never
mind the turmoil we see on the news every day. God is in control. While we need
to be informed, we know that this life for us is only temporary. The only
thing we need to do is get ourselves to heaven, and bring as many people with
us as we can.
PRAYER
PRACTICE
Dear Lord, one way we can share our faith is by sharing our
testimony. For we all have a story to tell, maybe more than one. It is these
stories of how Jesus changed our lives that we are here to tell. Give us the
courage and provide the stage to do this. Amen.
