Enlightened people like to brag, “I'm not a human being having a spiritual experience, I'm a spiritual being having a human experience.” What we hear from Paul is quite different. "We know that the law is spiritual but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin".
What a humble admission. We find it harder to do what we want to do, when what we want to do is follow the law. Ironically, we found it easy to do what we wanted to do before we accepted the law. Now when we want to limit our sin, we struggle and battle with our old nature. It becomes clear that Christ freed us from the consequence of sin but He could not free us from sin.
At a glance, there may still appear to be little difference between us and the worst of mankind because sin lives in all of us. What separates Christians from those who allow sin to rule in their life is one vital step. We choose not to serve our sin. We choose a different Ruler, Jesus Christ. We intend to set aside our agenda for His will and to sacrifice our desires for His Kingdom. Most importantly, when we make this commitment, we are equipped with the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit.

Remember to pray for bad people, because you are one of them! While attempting to align with Kingdom priorities, it’s easy to judge others as "too far gone. Oh, they could never change!”, we think. The truth is that not one of us can change until we decide to serve the King of Kings. ALL are slaves to sin until God chooses us to be unspiritual humans equipped with the Holy Spirit.
