Encountering Our Destiny

Have you ever experienced a Damascus Road Encounter, or a Burning Bush moment? Have you ever been stopped in your tracks and knocked off your horse, and blinded by an overpowering light?

Moses Encountered God at a burning bush, and the impossible became possible. God opened Moses' heart and mind to step outside side his comfort zone and change the world. It wasn't easy and Moses often questioned the wisdom of God to make him the rescuer the Israelites.

When we have a big job head of us, one filled with impossible challenges let's remember Saul and his encounter with Jesus. When roadblocks seem insurmountable and the mountains in front of us too high to scale, and we need a burning bush moment, remember how God used Moses despite his doubts.

What is it that has you in a state of panic? What worries have been heaped up in front of you? What is it that has you imprisoned in a cage of doubt or rage or terror? Human emotions are difficult to control or overcome. I have found that only by going to the cross, meeting Jesus at the foot of this cross, will I discover answers.

Just like Moses and Paul learned, an encounter God, and a Spiritual moment with Jesus changes everything. Paul was transformed into a Believer and one who fights for the truth and author of numerous books in the Bible. Moses was transformed into a deliverer of a nation. You and I can be transformed into disciples of Jesus who makes disciples of Jesus who encounter our Savior in His Word and through prayer.

Burning Bush Moments

How many of us experienced 'burning bush' moments? Those times when we have been handed an assignment for which we are unqualified, and which scares us to death. We find Moses caught up in one of these circumstances in our reading. He woke up one morning, began his normal daily routine, and before nightfall began one of the most intriguing and incredible journeys known to man.

Exodus 3:4 (NIV) 
When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, "Moses! Moses!" And Moses said, "Here I am." 

God had been preparing Moses from the day of his birth until this point in time. Moses lived the life of an Egyptian prince; learned the ways of royalty and suddenly found himself a shepherd. For years he lived this life, working for everything he had, for every bite he would eat. The one day everything changed for Moses.

This is how life is sometimes. One day you are royalty and next a shepherd.  One day you pull it all together, you know what to do and the following sunrise you find yourself in the midst of the unknown, preparing to do battle you are ill-equipped to win.  But, God prepared us for this day as He prepared Moses. 

The saying, "God doesn't call the equipped, but equips the called," could hold its roots in this story of Moses. This familiar phrase applies to each of us.  There are burning bush moments in life when we are faced with a calling for which we are ill-suited; at least in our own minds.  But, God has been working from the day of our birth to get us to such a time as this.  Our life experiences prepared us for the work ahead.

It is good to remember how God was with us up to this point, and it is even better to know He will be with us as we accept the assignment waiting just beyond the burning bush.
